Only 1 ANC Gauteng Branch Want Zuma Gone

The ANC Gauteng has rejected news report that suggested that the Provincial leadership want President Zuma to resign.

ANC Gauteng chairperson Paul Mashatile has confirmed the party’s position taken during its provincial executive committee meeting on Monday that President Jacob Zuma is not stepping down.

It is reported that only one branch went against the spirit of more than 300 Gauteng branches.

The ANC’s top six and the party’s national working committee last week accepted Zuma’s apology, but only few ANC disgruntled members have been calling for the president’s head over the past few days. The ANC’s alliance partner – the South African Communist Party – also expressed its support for President Zuma.

The Mail & Guardian newspaper has been accused for distorting the report and the outcome of ANC Gauteng Provincial Executive Committee. The newspaper published a report stating that Gauteng branches want Zuma gone. This report is completely incorrect.
